Moderate · 4.6 miles round trip

741 ft elevation gain. A stunning alpine lake with waterfalls. Arrive before 9 AM or after 3 PM — parking fills up fast.

Hidden Lake Overlook

Moderate · 5.3 miles round trip

From Logan Pass. Alpine meadows with frequent mountain goat sightings. Fits within the 3-hour Logan Pass parking limit.

No vehicle reservations needed in 2026

For the first time in five years, Glacier has suspended its timed-entry system. You’ll still need a park entrance pass ($35/vehicle for 7 days). A free shuttle to Logan Pass is available — book tickets at Recreation.gov.

At & Around Paddle Ridge

Rafting, fishing, and dining are all right at the venue or a short drive away. Most operators run through September 30.

Whitewater Rafting

Glacier Raft Company operates right from Paddle Ridge. Half-day whitewater from $83/adult, scenic floats, and full-day trips with riverside lunch. Class II–III rapids, suitable for ages 5+.

Belton Chalet is a 1910 Swiss chalet with Montana-focused dining (bison, trout, elk). Backslope Brewing in Columbia Falls (15 min) for great craft beer. Glacier Distilling in Coram for local whiskey tasting.


Good to Know

Limited Cell Service

There is essentially no cell service inside the park. Download offline maps and save any reservations or directions before you head out.


September Weather

Expect highs around 65°F and lows near 40°F. Warm days, chilly mornings and evenings. Layers are essential — bring a fleece and a rain layer.


Bear Country

Glacier is home to both grizzly and black bears. Carry bear spray (rentable at Glacier Outfitters in Apgar) and hike in groups. Make noise on trails.

No vehicle reservations needed in 2026, but a park pass is required ($35/vehicle for 7 days). Logan Pass has a 3-hour parking limit — arrive before 6 AM or after 4 PM.
